The Tutelary Foundation, operating since 1994, wants to ensure the future of mentally disabled persons without family or those whom family is unable to assume the responsibility of a person with disabilities. In this situation, the foundation has the legal custody with decision-making capacity for mentally disabled persons recognised as legally incapable.

The Foundation disposes of a professional team as well as volunteers to respond to the needs of the person in question. In this sense, the tutelary representative became a kind of godfather assuming the voluntary commitment to maintain regular contact with their protected.
