Commitment since 1965

Since 1965 AMPANS has been working on a wide variety of services focused on mentally disabled persons from their youth until their elderly. Nowadays, AMPANS serves as a comprehensive model for any service related with caring for mentally disabled persons.

1965

  • Founding of the institution according to its statutes.

1966

  • Setting up daytime services for mentally disabled persons in a rented apartment at Manresa.

1969

  • Opening of graphic arts workshop.

1973

  • Donation by the family Payàs-Puigarnau, owner of the country house called Santa Maria de Comabella at Santpedor.

1978

  • Comabella organizes Campaign Sol d’Amor (Sun of Love) to collect funds in order to finance the relocation to Comabella.
  • Construction of Workshop.

1984

  • Opening of the special education school Jeroni de Moragas.

1985

  • Opening of first two Home-Residences in Zamenhof-street at Manresa.

1986

  • Formalizing of Agreement on Education between Education Department and AMPANS.
  • AMPANS is declared entity of public utility.

1987

  • Founding of San Rafel Space.

1990

  • Workshop expansion and founding of Occupational Workshop.
  • Setting up of two new Home-Residences in the Manresa Oleguer-street.

1991

  • First employment contracts for mentally disabled persons at Special Work Centre (CET).

1992

  • 25th Anniversary of the founding of AMPANS.

1993

  • Opening of the residence and daytime centre for profoundly mentally disabled persons Julio Payàs.
  • Setting up of Cleaning Activities in the Special Work Centre.

1994

  • Construction of Administration and Services Building.
  • Setting up of private tutelary Foundation Sta M. Comabella.

1995

  • Opening of gift and newspaper-shop at the general hospital of Manresa.
  • Opening of Gardening Centre and the Floriplant Garden.

1996

  • Opening of three Home-Residences: 2 at Joan de Vilatorrada city and 1 in the Zamenhof street at Manresa.

1998

  • Writing the Code of Ethics.
  • Setting up Social Integration Program for vocational training and integration into the labour market.
  • End of the campaign Ampolla and Paper (Bottle and Paper) which was started in 1973.

1999

  • Opening of new Home-Residence at Manresa – Homes Sant Joan.

2000

  • Opening of new occupational centre “La llum” (The Light).
  • Construction of 5 new Home-Residences at Manresa.
  • Expansion of Gardening Centre and Floriplant Garden.

2001

  • Expansion of working area of the Special Work Centre: environment (selective garbage collection) and urban maintenance.

2002

  • Opening of the Home-Residences in Mion-neighbourhood of Manresa.
  • First edition of magazine AMPANS on the move

2003

  • Obtaining of the certification ISO9001:2000 of the sections of printing and manipulated.

2004

  • Beginning of the program of support to the autonomy of his home.
  • Acquisition of Certification for compliance with ISO 9001:2000 regarding management and quality, ISO14001:2004 regarding environmental management, and OHSAS 18001:1999 regarding occupational hazard management.
  • Respite Care Services and residential centers

2005

  • Renovation and Opening of the Comtals residence for up to 30 persons with behavioural disorders.
  • Opening of Support Homes in the Magent-street of Manresa.

2006

  • 40th anniversary of the founding.
  • Opening of the first Home for disabled children and teenagers in the street Alcalde Armengou at Manresa.
  • Organization of the 1st Award for innovation and research related to disabled persons.

2007

  • Creation of Training Service for physically and mentally disabled persons.
  • 10 more places available at the Julio Payàs Residence.
  • Founding of the companies AMPANS Medi Ambient (Environment) Ltd and Serveis (specified works and services) Ltd.

2008

  • Opening of La Caseta in June 2008, a new residence of children and adolescents in Pineda de Bages.
  • Opening of restaurant El Café del Canonge, a step forward in the socio-occupational integration.
  • CO Canonge, a new occupational center in the middle of Manresa.

2009

  • Opening of Turó, a new residence of children and adolescents in Pineda de Bages.
  • Organization of the I Congrés Estatal sobre Alteracions de Conducta.
  • Josep Guardiola and Manuel Estiarte visit us and become "Amics d'AMPANS".
  • Appear on the wine market Urpina 2008 (Merlot).

2010

  • Opening of two new-home residence: La Colònia (Súria) and Urpina (San Salvador de Guardiola).
  • Launch of AMPANS’s new wine, cabernet sauvignon "U d'Urpina".
  • First “Concert de Nadal Amics d’AMPANS” (Teatre Kursaal).
  • Ampans becomes a Foundation
